Have a Look at Marl

Reasons why we love Marl and the „Ruhr“ area.

Museum of Local History and Museum Barn Marl

Worth seeing: The nucleus of the city and local museum is the former water mill in „Volkspark“, a technical monument from the mid-17th century. To the museum in the mill belong further exhibition rooms in the “Scherer’schen” mansion, a nearby founding period house as well as from the “Mühlradfreunde” 2003 to 2005 built in a half-timbered barn style.

Shaft IV

Weatherproof: the pit IV had a special significance on the Marler colliery Auguste Victoria, because here not only coal, but also ore was mined. The huge conveyor frame of the later Weather shaft has been a listed building since 1995. In the machine hall, a mining museum was set up, which documents the work of miners above and below ground.

Schalke 04

In 1904 arose the myth of the Schalke market in the form of a football club, which is today a very important part of our corporate identity. No matter how the Royal Blues play in the Veltins Arena – we are always full of confidence behind our club. Schalke – we live you!

Gate Ruhr – the gateway to the “Ruhr” area

Looking Forward: On the 90-hectare site of the former Auguste Victoria colliery, the city of Marl intends to develop an area with charisma over the next few years. The area is to be breathed with a new urban life – as a modern industrial and commercial area for Marl and for the entire region.

Loemühle

Relaxation: Rural idyll presents newly opened -after renovation- Hotel Loemühle. In the historic half-timbered estate on the lake, an open-air terrace as a summer attraction – and, in winter, a sauna landscape invites you to relax.
